Abstract
581,103. Book-rests &c. MURPHY, E. Sept. 18, 1944, No. 17775. [Class 52 (iii)] As shown a copyholder comprises a rectangular plate A, a strut C pivoted to it by a spindle B<1>, and a stay E pivoted to it by a pin D and having slots D<1> which can engage shoulders in a slot C<1> in the strut. Rollers B on the spindle B<1>, projecting through slots in the plate A, are rotatable by knobs B<2> and are covered by a paper holder F having slotted lugs F<1> engaging the spindle B<1>. A detachable book support G has a lug G' passing through a slot A<2> at the ends of which are lugs supporting the pivot pin D. According to the Provisional Specification, the book support may be mounted on the pivot pin D. Single sheets are inserted between the paper holder F and the plate A and are advanced by turing the knob B'. For a soft covered notebook the paper holder is reversed and the book suspended either from a rod F<2>, which extends between the lugs F<1>, or over the top of the plate A with some leaves held between the plate and the rod. The paper holder is also reversed when the stand is folded, Fig. 3, and keeps it so by holding the stay C.
