[Class 38 (i)] A cartridge fuse element comprises a metal tube 1, e.g., silver, in which are inserted wires or strips 2, 3 with a predetermined gap 4 between their ends. The wires 2, 3 are secured by flattening the tube longitudinally. - The gap may contain an inert core as a powder or solid. After assembly in the cartridge 8 the ends of the element are secured to end caps 9, 10.
