Abstract

579,705. Gas detectors. LINDSTROM, N. E. July 14, 1944, No. 13525. [Class 1 (i)] A combustible-gas indicator of the kind in which the heat of catalytic oxidation of the gas acts on an expansible vessel containing a volatile medium and actuating an indicator is provided with a differential device compensating for external heat and pressure changes. The apparatus may comprise two similar expansible vessels 2, 3 surrounding chambers 4, 5 respectively which are traversed in series by the gas under test, the chamber 5 alone containing a catalyst. Members 11, 25 rigidly mounted on the top of vessel 2 carry a series of levers 14, 13, 15 actuating a pointer 21. The first lever 14 carries a screw 23 contacting the top of vessel 3, whereby differential expansion of the vessel moves the lever.
