Abstract
579,543. Exercising-apparatus. DRAPER, W. May 25, 1944, No. 10120. [Class 132 (i)] A self-exercising-apparatus for invalids for exercising the limbs and learning to walk, comprising a frame 3 supported by legs 4 on wheels or castors 5 and supporting at one end a seat 6 which may be hinged and having one side 8 capable of being opened and closed to give access with a. device 8a to relieve the strain on the means of attachment when the padded side rails 9 are used to support the weight of the patient. Accessories include a cross-bar 10 which may support arm exercising devices, a foot block 12 for leg exercises, a tray 13 provided with devices for hand and finger exercises, one or two crutches 14 with forked legs to assist firm attachment and a pedal device, the wheel 17 being made preferably of two discs, the pressure between which can be varied to control the pressure to be exerted by the patient when exercising his legs. The wheel 17 may be large enough to contact the floor and form a means of propulsion. A brake may be fitted.
