Abstract
578,971. Photographic shutters. KODAK, Ltd. April 5, 1944, No. 6366. Convention date, May 4, 1943. [Class 98 (i)] The master member of a photographic shutter carries two spaced protuberances which during the operation of the shutter engage an arm projecting from the bladeoperating ring, one protuberance engaging and moving the arm in one direction to open the shutter and the other engaging and moving the arm in the opposite direction to close the shutter. The shutter blades 4 are pivoted and carry pins 6 which engage in slots 7 in the blade ring 8. An arm 9 extends upwardly from the ring 8 and carries an angular cam 13 at its upper end 12: The master member 15 has a blade-opening pin 19 and bladeclosing pin 20, the former with a bevelled edge 40. A slot 22 in the master member 15 permariently engages a pin 23 carried by the arcuate arm 24. A projection 26 on the arm 24 projects into the path of a pivoted latch 27 carried by the trigger arm 29. In operation, the finger-piece 30 is pressed downwardly and in the early stages rotates the master member 15 against the spring 17 from the position in Fig. 1 to that in Fig. 2, the bevelled edge 40 of the pin 19 riding under the end 12 of the blade arm 9. The end 41 of the latch 27 then strikes a cam 42 and the arm 24 is released and returns under the influence of the spring 17. During this movement, the pin 19 gains momentum quickly before striking the cam surface 13 of the arm 9 and rocking the blade ring to open the shutter blades. After a small further movement, the pin 19 swings past the top edge of the arm 9 and the master member continues rotating until the pin 20 hits the arm 9 in a reverse direction and closes the shutter.
