Abstract

578,396. Granulating machines. HURST, J. June 7, 1944, No. 10953. [Class 87 (ii)] Plastic or paste-like material is converted into granules by being fed down a shoot 23 on to a rotating cylindrical wire screen 12 where it is held against the screen by centrifugal force and forced through the screen by two flexible wipers 19 which rotate in the same direction as, but at a speed different from, that of the screen. Each wiper is secured to the end of an arm 18 behind a spreading plate or scraper 22. The wipers may be of rubber, felt or wire gauze. In a modification, each wiper is secured to one end of a lever pivoted on an end of the arm 18, the other end being spring- urged to press the wiper against the screen.
