577,878. Handles. BLOORE & PILLER, Ltd., and GREEN, J. J. Oct. 2, 1944, No. 18812. [Class 44] A door handle adapted to be mounted on a right or left hand door has a stub shank journalled in a rose or escutcheon plate and is slotted transversely to receive a retaining piece arranged to co-operate with stops on the inner side of the plate for limiting angular movement. One end of the retaining piece e is bent over and located in one of two gaps formed in the periphery of a hollow boss b in which the stub shank c is journalled. A washer i is interposed between the retaining piece and the end of the boss. A spring g surrounding the stub shank has one of its ends secured in the bent-over end of the retaining piece and the other end abutting against an edge of one of the gaps. For opposite hand mounting the handle and the retaining piece are turned through 180 degrees.
