Abstract
577,711. Vehicle fittings for loading. BROOKS EQUIPMENT & MFG. CO. March 16, 1944, No. 4947. Convention date, Dec. 31, 1943. [Classes 78 (iii) and 78 (iv)] Pivoted loading arms are mounted at the back of a road vehicle and are actuated by a motor through mechanism of such a character that their angular velocity increases progressively as they turn from the horizontal to the vertical position. The arms F are keyed to the ends of a shaft 36, Fig. 1, which is mounted in depending parts of the side-walls of the load carrying platform D. The upper ends of the arms are connected by a shaft 41 which supports skip carrying chains 45. A slot 50 in each arm receives a roller 91 which is mounted on a curved arm 80. This arm is pivoted to the vehicle at 39 and to the piston rod 72 of a cylinder 70 at 94. Each cylinder is pivoted to the vehicle at 77 and has oil under pressure supplied to it by a pump 66. The skip J is centred on the platform D by guides K, Fig. 4.
