576,621. Gun mountings; fluidpressure servomotors. ROSE, A. G., NICHOLLS, K. H., and ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd. March 2, 1943, No. 162. [Classes 92 (i) and 92 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIX] Power-operated gun elevating or training means is controlled by a manually-operated sighting arm 25 pivoted for movement about the axis of elevation or training. The power means preferably comprises hydraulic vane motors 13, 14 and 19, 20 for elevating and training respectively, and the operation of a single sighting arm 25 in any direction causes, through valves 27, 28 or their equivalents mounted on the gun 11, instantaneous and synchronous movements of the gun in the same sense as those of the sighting arm. In the form shown, the outer portion 13 of the elevation motor is secured to the gun and the inner portion 14 is fast with the trunnion support 12. The outer portion 19 of the training motor is connected with the support 12 and the inner portion is fast with the base, 18. Power is obtained by an oil pump 38 driven by an electric motor 44 and the oil from a sump 43 is delivered through pipe-lines 41 to the control valves 27, 28 on the gun and thence through pipes 29 to the vane motors. The sighting- arm 25, carrying the sight 46, is U-shaped and pivoted at 24 on the elevation axis, a U-shaped depending portion 22 being pivoted at 21 on the axis of training. The sighting arm is connected by ball-jointed'rods 33, 34 with the valves 27, 28. The vane motors may be replaced by hydraulic rams. Specifications 553,267 and 555,261 are referred to.
