Abstract
576,191. Ice making. DOUGLAS & SONS, Ltd., W., and COLLINS, L. G. April 13, 1944, No. 6869. [Class 29] [Also in Group XVII] Apparatus for filling ice moulds comprises a framework 7 supporting an oscillatable hollow shaft 5 having radiating therefrom liquid delivery pipes 8 the free ends 9 of which are cranked downwardly to depend into the mould 3, the pipe being connected by a three-way valve 13 first to a source of liquid supply and then to means for syphoning surplus liquid from the mould. The pipes 8 are normally maintained in the raised position shown dotted by a counterweight 16. The valve 13 alternately connects the hollow shaft to a supply pipe 14 and to a syphoning pipe 16<1> the moulds being filled to a level above the free ends of the pipes 8 and the surplus then syphoned off to the level of the free ends of the pipes, which are upwardly inclined to ensure a clean cut-off. The moulds are supported on oscillatable platforms 4 and the ice blocks are slid down a harvesting platform 2.
