601,853. Reinforced concrete. STANCLIFFE, C. W. Oct. 9, 1945, No. 26236. [Class 20(iv)] [Also in Group V] Reinforced concrete beams and posts are cast in a battery of vertical moulds 1 arranged in a cradle 10 supported from a runway 12, with one end of the reinforcement fixed to the bottom 6 of the moulds, by screws 8, and the other end attached to a wire 13 which passes over a shaft 9 free to move transversely on supports 14 fixed to the cradle. The weight of the bottom 6, pallets 7 and the concrete cast in the moulds puts an initial tension on the reinforcement. According to the Provisional Specification the reinforcement itself may pass over the shaft 9 and it may be pretensioned by being drawn tight or by hanging weights.
