[Class 36] [Also in Groups XI and XXII] An apparatus for fixing bases to electric lamps or similar devices comprises a turret 17 fitted with a plurality of peripheral heads 16 supported by a central column 20. The heads 16 comprise vertically limited reciprocatable slide rods 33 provided with upper and lower bulb holders 34 and 35 arranged to open and close in unison, and a base holder 44 underneath bulb holder 35 to support lamp and base 11 containing a ring of cement. The setting of the cement is performed by heating the holder 44 between stations D and E by gas jets 79 after a soldering operation at station C. The work cools between station E and loading station A.
