Abstract
574,519. Jacks. GRIME, E. P. Sept. 28, 1943, No. 15906. [Class 78 (iii)] A two-height jack has tripod legs 9 pivoted at 8 to a head 4 through which passes a plunger 3 the piston 2 of which moves in a cylinder 1. On the legs 9 can be clamped sleeves 15 connected by links 13 to a collar 29, clamped on the cylinder 1 The sleeves 15 are positioned intermediate the length of the legs 9 when a low jack is required, and at the bottom of the legs, with part of the sleeve projecting, when a high jack is wanted. To form a high jack extensions 14 are inserted in the sleeves 15 and gripped by clamping or by screwing in. Feet 22 have pivoted sockets 19 which can accommodate the' lower ends of either the legs 9 or the extensions 14. Extensible tangential or radial bars 23, 24 connect the feet 22. The plunger 3 may be threaded and have a retaining nut 5 riding on it. A cushion 7a may be fitted to the head 7.
