Abstract

574,451. Gun turrets. BOULTON PAUL AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and DOE, A. Feb. 24, 1942, No. 2392. [Classes 92 (i) and 92 (ii)] An aircraft gun turret 1, 3 has a forward compartment x for the gunner who occupies a seat 31 and controls the turret through a handle 25 and sight 28, this compartment being isolated in an air-tight manner from the remaining compartment y which houses the guns and equipment therefor. The compartment y is provided with apertures furnished with venturi disc devices of known kind for exhausting the gun gases. Lateral shoots are provided for evacuating the spent cartridge cases and belt links. The handle 25 controls a combined electric and hydraulic power unit 21 for elevating the guns and training the, turret. The sight is moved synchronously with the guns. An ammunition receptacle 23 is provided.
