Abstract

574,371. Electric control systems. ROSS, T. W., and METROPOLITANVICKERS ELECTRICAL CO.. Ltd. Jan. 3, 1944, No. 64. [Class 40 (i)] In a remote control system the receiver is operated by two spaced impulses of relatively high frequency injected into the power line and comprises a self-starting motor which drives a cam to close a switch associated with a time delay device which affects the control. A drum switch is also driven by the motor and in conjunction with a relay selective to the impulse ensures that the motor drives between the impulses, is held during the second impulse and drives back to normal after the second impulse. The Figure shows a reed-type relay 14 of the type described in Specification 517,971, [Group XXXVII], which responds to the controlling impulses and short circuits the motor 2 with the drum switch 4 in its normal position. The first impulse removes the short circuit from the motor and the drive is maintained during the interval between the impulses as the drum switch 4 is off normal. The second impulse arrives while the cam 5 has closed contacts 6, and operating relay 13 stops the motor which allows the time delay device, shown as a bimetallic strip 8 to operate. Specifications 535,634,562,381 and 574,372, [Group XXXVII], also are referred to.
