Abstract

546,889. Receivers for code signals. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., COLLYER, J. E., and SMART, N. C. Jan. 26, 1942. No. 1046. [Class 40 (i)] In apparatus for opening and closing a pair of contacts 12 in response to predetermined code signals in which a synchronous motor 3 is started by the initial impulse and drives the controlling cam 11 through a half-revolution provided the duration and spacing of the impulses are correct, two sets of pins carried by a pair of cams 9, 10 and arranged in accordance with the signals co-operate with a bell-crank lever 41 which is controlled by the armature of the impulse-receiving magnet 15 and which when normal has one end located in the path of one set of pins and when operated has the other end located in that of the other set. The circuit of the motor is maintained for a halfrevolution at contacts 25 controlled by a cam 8, and if the receipt of an incorrect signal causes a pin to strike the lever 14 the motor reverses and returns to its starting position. Th cam 9 is of angular form so that it will restore the lever 14 should it stick in the operated position. The apparatus may be employed for switching on and off a street lamp 19 in response to A.C. signals over the power circuit, rectified current being supplied to the magnet 15 from a tuned circuit 17, 18, and a number of apparatus units may be operated by different code signals.
