Abstract
The process disclosed in the parent Specification, for the production of oxidized or depolymerized rubber derivatives, particularly resins, by adding an oxidizing catalyst to rubber and dispensing it over a large surface area provided by wood flour &c. mixed into the rubber, which is worked in air or oxygen, is modified in that reclaim rubber is used, and preferably chemical wood pulp is used instead of wood flour, and preferably it and the catalyst, e.g. cobalt naphthenate, are used in higher proportions. The reclaim rubber may be from tyres, mats, &c., and may include sulphur, carbon, &c. Synthetic resinous products may be prepared with phenol and formaldehyde as in Specifications 538,922 and 572,828.ALSO:The process disclosed in the parent Specification for the production of oxidized or depolymerized rubber derivatives, particularly resins, by adding an oxidizing catalyst to rubber and dispersing it over a large surface area provided by wood flour &c. mixed into the rubber, which is worked in air or oxygen, is modified in that reclaim rubber is used, and preferably chemical wood pulp is used instead of wood flour, and preferably it and the catalyst, e.g. cobalt naphthenate, are used in higher proportions.
