Abstract
572,751. Annealing boxes; cementation. FIELDSEND, C. F. March 8, 1944, No. 4278. [Class 72] A box or container for use in cementation, annealing or other heat-treatment of articles comprises a base B with its edges turned up to form a continuous flange b with square corners, and a cover A with four side walls a and an integral top a<1>. The flange b slopes outwardly and upwardly at a small angle to the vertical and forms a near fit against the bottom edges of the sides a of the cover. A. The spaces C between the flange h and sides a may be filled with sealing material such as sand or grouting and the base b may be provided with an inner flange D which protects the lower edges of the walls a. In another form, Fig. 2, the cover A is provided with an open top which is closed by a cover E similar to the base B. Specifications 9552/96 and 22318/09, [both in Class 72], are referred to.
