[Class 92 (ii)] Relates to single or multiple compartment cartridge magazines for automatic guns of the kind in which the cartridges 1, Fig. 2, are urged from a compartment by a spring-loaded pivoted arm (i. According to the invention, the spring load is applied to the arm by the tension of a flexible lead 11 passing round a boss 12 fast with the arm. The invention is shown applied to a multiple-compartment magazine as described in Specification 572,504, the cartridges passing to a motor-driven worm conveyer 5 as described in Specification 572,510. The arm 6, associated with each compartment as shown in Fig. 1, turns about a, shaft 7 and has an eccentric boss 12 to which is fixed one end of a chain 11, the other end of which is connected to a spring link 14 guided in a stirrup 15 hinged to the side of the magazine casing. The end 8 of the arm has hinged thereto a spring-pressed member 9 engaging the top cartridge. To release the tension on the arm 6 for reloading the magazine, the stirrup 15 is connected by a pivot 16 to a crank 17 which can be turned outwardly about a fixed pivot 18. The arm 6 may be telescopic, the free end being spring-pressed to engage the side of the casing. Arms 6, crossing one another, may be hinged to opposite sides of the casing and, when telescopic, their free ends may be connected by a link of fixed length.
