Abstract

Sheet metal cooling jackets in liquid-cooled internal-combustion engines are rubber-bonded directly or indirectly to both the cylinder barrels and the cylinder heads. The bonding is effected by clamping a layer of uncured natural or synthetic rubber between the mating surfaces which have previously been coated with a synthetic rubber solution and vulcanizing the joint. If a part is of steel, it is first plated with brass.
