Abstract

572,460. Parachute harness. QUILTER, J. R. C., and GREGORY, J. Dec. 24, 1943, No. 21611. [Class 141] A parachute harness of the kind described in Specification 339,388, [Class 141], wherein main lift webs a pass through adjustable spacers b over the wearer's shoulder to connect with a quick-release device c on his chest and with back straps or cross webs d, is provided with means, readily operable by the wearer from the front, to adjust the harness to size. Such means comprise adjusting straps f attached to the back straps, cross webs or other continuations of the rear lift webs, and which run over central pins b<1> on the webspacers b down through eyes or slots e <1> in lugs e on the device c upwards to adjustable front buckles g from which their free ends can be pulled forwards or down to lower the lift web spacers b. The buckles g are preferably attached by short lengths of webbing h to the forward cross pin b<2> of the spacers b. The leg straps i of the harness may be adjusted by buckles l around a slide bar l<1> of which a looped portion of the straps pass, the buckles being connected to quick release lugs k by clips m.
