Abstract

572,099. Obtaining tubes from powdered metals. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. April 3, 1944, No. 6190. Convention date, April 6, 1943. [Class 82 (i)] A method of drying, prior to sintering, a pasty extruded tubular metal member consisting of a mixture of carbide particles and particles of a lower melting point metal intended to form a binder, comprises passing a hot drying medium through the tube. After extrusion the tube is laid on a support and connected by a hose to a source of hydrogen or other reducing or inert gas at about 100‹ C. Alternatively, air at 100‹ C. may be used as the drying medium.
