572,028. Centrifugal pumps. MERRYWEATHER & SONS, Ltd., STUBINGTON, R. E., and ALLESTREE, W. Feb. 4, 1944, No. 2045. [Class 110 (i)] In a multi-stage centrifugal pump having two or more impellers in series, each impeller discharges into a volute D which (except in the last stage) communicates with a diminishing distributor chamber G surrounding the volute and provided with ports K through which the liquid passes to the return chamber leading to the eye of the next impeller. The ports are placed and dimensioned so that the liquid reaches each with approximately the same velocity and pressure. The return chamber is provided with the usual curved vanes L.
