Abstract

571,570. Roofing. TURNERS ASBESTOS CEMENT CO., Ltd., and ASHMAN, H. W. Oct. 28, 1943, No. 17823. [Class 20 (iv)] One or more cement-asbestos channel- or L-shaped battens are interposed between wood battens 2 the edges being suitably spaced to engage the nibs 6 of roofing tiles. The wood battens are 1 inch thick and preferably placed on edge, the cement-asbestos batten B being 3“ inch wide next the wood batten and the remaining battens A being 4“ inch wide. When the cement-asbestos battens are L-shaped uniform spacing of the tiles is maintained by varying the length of the flange secured to the rafters. The battens may be secured by nails to wood rafters or by clips and bolts to flanged steel rafters. With tubular rafters, Fig. 6, the battens are bolted to clips 10 through an intermediate plate 12.
