Abstract

571,515. Drying air &c. LUMB, C. F. Dec. 8, 1943, Nos. 20531/43 and 15826/44. [Class 123 (iii)] Apparatus for drying air, &c., comprises a vessel 1, preferably cylindrical, provided with air inlet and outlet pipes 2, 3 and locating a deflecting surface 5 on to which the air stream is directed and which causes moisture to be projected outwardly against the inner wall of said vessel, a drain cock 14 being fitted at the bottom of the latter. The surface 5 may be constituted by the conical surface of a plug 5a secured to one end of a sleeve 4 which surrounds the outlet pipe 3, an extension 4a on the other end of the sleeve 4, which is provided with axial slots 6 for the passage of air, being located on said pipe 3 by a nut 12, preferably with the interposition of a perforated disc 13. In a modification, a second sleeve is disposed between the sleeve 4 and the vessel 1 in line with the periphery of the plug 5a, and the wall of the outlet pipe, adjacent its mouth, may be perforated.
