Abstract

571,089. Actuation of switches. HOLDEN & HUNT, Ltd., and POOLE, J. W. Nov. 9, 1943, No.18595. [Class 38 (v)] A fluid-pressure-operated switch for switching in a welding circuit when the air pressure to a welding electrode has been sufficiently built up, comprises two connected pistons 2, 3 moving in cylinders 5, 6 of different diameters, the smaller cylinder 6 being connected at 12 to a constant fluid pressure and the larger cylinder 5 being connected at 11 to an increasing fluid pressure so that eventually the pistons move to the right to the .position shown and operate the switch. The double piston 2, 3 may have a flange 8 which limits its movement and also operates two plungers 9 to operate two switches 10. One of these may close the welding circuit and the other may close a circuit to operate valve connected to the exhaust to enable the pistons to return to their original position.
