Abstract
570,818. Drop-end settees, &c. MILLS, C. R. Nov. 20, 1943, No. 19432. [Class 52 (ii)] In drop-end, &c., settees (e.g., as in Specification 409,781) in which hand pulling on a lug 11 rocks a bar 2 about fixed pivots 8 so that the holes in plates 3 on the bar 2 free themselves from substantial frictional engagement with the struts 4 supporting the settee end or back 5, the whole lower unit 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 11 is first made up as an assembly which can thereby be easily fitted by securing the brackets 7 to a fixed part 6 of the settee. The plate 9 has a depending eye 10 for attachment of a spring, the other end being fixed to the settee thereby holding the bar 2 in axially inclined frictionally engaged position with the struts 4.
