[Class 20 (iv)] A wall, Fig. 1, or a floor, Fig. 7, is composed of a number of spaced plates having ribs 13, 14 formed with undercut bevel faces, the plates being spaced apart by channel-shaped tie plates 15 having bevelled flanges 16 on their inner faces for engaging the ribs, the tie plates being arranged in pairs and being held in their locking position by a filler such as concrete. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the wall plates 10 have end flanges 11 and a central projection 12, these being disposed between the ribs 13 and 14 respectively in the assembled structure. Some of the plates are formed without the members 12, 14, as shown in Fig. 1, so that opposing plates of the remainder of the wall break joint with respect to each other. The corner plates 18 have marginal grooves 19 which receive the flanges 11. In constructing the floor and ceiling construction shown in Fig. 7, the plates are held up by temporary supports and spaced apart by the tie plates. The floor plates 23 are shorter than the ceiling plates 22, thus providing spaces 25 for introducing the concrete filling 24, the latter being carried across the floor with the end portions supported on the walls. In a modification, the tie plates are formed with projections upon which are seated boards of insulating material arranged between the floor or wall plates. The wall plates may be made of fire clay, cement, glass or asbestos.
