Abstract
568,733. Coil winding apparatus. MICAFIL. Ltd. July 6, 1943. No, 10978. Convention date, June 19, 1942. Addition to 563,932. [Class 35] In a device for winding the stator of a dynamo-electric machine, as described in the parent Specification, the fingers for Jaying the coil ends consist of two hooks 47, Figs. 2 and 4, carried by a rod 42 which reciprocates in timed relation along its length at an angle of 40-60 degrees to the axes of the stator. The rod is mounted in guides 43 in the base of the machine and is actuated by a toothed sector 40 and rack 41. The fingers are carried by arms 46 adjustably mounted on a clip 45 which is in turn adjustably mounted on a post 44 carried by the rod 42. For turning the fingers to release the loop of wire on the return movement of the winding head, they are mounted in bearings 50, Fig. 4, on the arms 46, and are turned by a rack-andpinion gear 51, 52. The rack is part of a spring-controlled slide 53 which carries at its end a depending lug, which at a selected moment in the traverse of the rod 42 abuts against an adjustable stop 48. Acting in conjunction with the fingers to guide the wire forming the coil ends are horns 5a, 5b. The horns 5a adjacent the slot from which the wire emerges are longer than the horns 5b adjacent the entering slots,
