Abstract

568,231. Tension arrangements for spinning &c. machines. AKT. - GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. Nov. 28, 1942, No. 16928. Convention date, Dec. 15, 1941. [Classes 120 (ii) and 120 (iii)] In a spinning machine, doubling frame or similar textile machine the actual value of the thread tension is continuously indicated by a device comprising a pulley 3 over which the thread 2 passes and from which the tension is transmitted to a spring balance having a pointer 10 moving over a scale 16. The pulley 3 is fixed to a lever 5 on a shaft 6 mounted in ball-bearings 7 and carrying a segment 8 engaging by means of teeth or a band coupling a segment 9 fixed to the pointer 10. The shaft 6 is loaded by springs 12, 14, the spring 12 being unloaded in its zero position and adjustable by means of a set screw 13 while the spring 14 is operable by a stop 15 from the unloaded position I to the unloaded position II, the respective calibrations on the scale 16 being used according as the spring 12 or both springs 12, 14 are operative. Alternatively the changes in the tension may be indicated by electrical or optical means. The indicating device may be enclosed in a dustproof casing and mounted on supporting brackets having straight and arcuate slots for adjustment. The device may also be used to regulate the speed of the spindle driving motor in accordance with the thread tension.
