[Class 104 (ii)] A rail-joint supporting member made from a rolled steel section has one or two rail-locating flanges or ribs of uniform depth and extending the full length of the member. Fig. 1 shows a member 5 made from a simple channel section and bent so as to rest on the strengthened edges 6 of the sleepers. Alternatively, the member could be straight and lie below the rails in specially deep chairs. Fig. 10 shows a rolled section with one rib. It can be used as cut, or each piece can be strengthened, as shown, by bending down the middle portions of the edges to form flanges 15.
