Abstract

A neutral, concentrated aqueous solution of the cardiac glucoside obtained from Adonis vernalis by the process of Specification 265,941, [Class 2 (iii)], is extracted with a mixture of alcohol and chloroform, the extract washed with aqueous alkali to remove coloured impurities and, after drying, evaporated in vacuo and crystallised from water. In an example, the product is finally recrystallised from methanol.
