[Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] Small direct currents, derived from a source such as a thermo-couple 28, are chopped into pulsating current suitable for amplification by an A.C. amplifier 30 by means of a resistance 26 of the carbon microphone type, the vibrating element of which is driven by a coil 25 energized by A.C. derived from a tuning-fork oscillation generator 10 ... 18, the output of which may be amplified by a thermionic amplifier 19. Zero error at the indicating instrument 31 due to the effects of external temperature changes on the thermo-couple 28 may be corrected by adjustment of a tapping on a resistance network R, R1 associated with the circuit of the thermo-couple.
