[Class 112] A hemming device for a quilted article stuffed with kapok or the like comprises a guide 17 for forcing in the stuffing between the layers of muslin, or the like, 10, 11 and rollers 25, 30 for drawing inwards the muslin as the material moves from right to left, Fig. 1, towards the sewing point 35. Compressed air may be supplied to the hollow channel 22 of the guide 17 and be ejected through holes 24 to force in the kapok. The rollers 25, 30, for smoothing the single layer 11, or overlapped layers, are driven by pulleys 28, 32, and are duplicated on each side of the material. The normal stitches for producing the quilted material may be inserted before or after the device 17.
