Abstract

Self-lubricating bearings and sealing members are moulded from a composition consisting of 45.4 per cent of about equal amounts of a thermo-setting synthetic resin (e.g. a phenolaldehyde resin) and asbestos, 27.3 per cent of lead or copper powder or flakes, 9.1 per cent antimony and 18.2 per cent graphite. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts describes compositions comprising (1) 30.3 per cent resin and fibre, 60.6 per cent copper and 9.1 per cent graphite; (2) 40 per cent resin and asbestos, 20 per cent graphite and 40 per cent copper or lead; (3) 85 per cent resin and fibre and 15 per cent graphite. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
