Abstract

565,496. Belt gearing. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., LORD, W., and RIDING, H. Feb. 12, 1943, No. 2331. [Class 80 (i)] [Also in Groups IX and XXV] Belting for a conveyer, elevator or for power transmission comprises a single ply of fabric woven from comparatively coarse yarns or threads. The weight of the fabric is not less than 45 ounces per square yard, the weft and warp yarn are not more than 420 yards per pound, and the maximum number of weft threads is 6 per inch. In an example given, the weight of the fabric is 80 ounces per square yard, and there are 3 wefts per inch, each weft yarn being 88 yards per pound. Warps 12 to the inch and each warp yarn being of 126 yards to the pound are used. The yarn may be plied or cabled and may be of cotton, flax, hemp or silk or synthetic fibres or filaments, such as rayon, prolon, the material known as nylon, or glass, asbestos and metallic wire.
