Abstract
564,589. Travelling cranes. CLELAND, J., GOLDUP, C. E., and CHAMBERS, C. F. M. Jan. 20, 1943, No. 1026. [Classes 78 (iv) and 78 (v)] A tractor or other vehicle is fitted with a power-driven winch a for haulage &c. purposes, and with a pivoted jib arm i which can be adjusted to various angles or entirely removed. The jib i is mounted on a frame h which may be carried directly by the vehicle, or be mounted on a removable platform thereon. A supplementary winch c winds a cable d passing round a pulley l<1> on the rear end of the jib i to luff the latter, and this may be assisted by a hand or power-operated winch p at the forward end of the vehicle winding a cable passing over a pulley m<1> on the jib. The main cable b may be connected directly to the load through a hook b<2>, or may be passed round a pulley l<2> or a pulley m<2> or n to give a highangle haul from the rear or the front of the vehicle. A hook o may support a loading &c. platform, and sprags r, s form ground anchors for the vehicle. The rear sprag r may have an angle-iron across its upper rear edge to enable it to act as a load or counterweight carrier. Clutches e, f control the winches a and c.
