[Classes 18 and 661 A container of the type adapted to be assembled by the user is made from a blank 20, Figs. 1 and 12, of sheet material, the upper edge of which is folded to form a rim 21 and the lower edge of which has tabs 25 foldable along a crease 31 to form a flange, the tabs forming substantially contiguous elements of the flange, the body wall being closed by securing its end 26 to the other end thereof by staples or dry moisture-proof adhesive such as latex. Such bodies may be folded flat along lines 22 and stacked for shipment &c., the blanks in the stack having the tabs at alternate ends. The bottom is constituted by an inner disc 28, Fig. 3, and an outer disc 29, Fig. 2, placed on opposite sides of the flange 25. Dry waterproof adhesive coatings A, A<1>, B<1>, B are applied to the parts so that the flange adheres to the periphery and the inner disc and the outer disc adheres to the centre of the inner disc. The container may be assembled by means of a jig 40, Fig. 12, with spring fingers 41 which direct the flanges 25 inwards. The inner disc is inserted when tabs 25 have been bent horizontal and the ends 42 of spring fingers 41 have entered recesses 43. The bottom is consolidated by pressure.
