Abstract
563,022. Magnetic separators. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd., and DAVIS, C. W. V. Jan. 15, 1943, No. 813. [Class 72] In a magnetic cleaning device for separating magnetic particles from admixture with liquids or with other non- magnetic solid particles, a permanent magnet is secured at one end to a handle or grip and exhibiting consequent poles along its length is enclosed entirely in a non - magnetic sheath closed at one end and is readily detachable from the latter. The single magnet may be replaced by a plurality of separate magnets arranged to simulate a single magnet with consequent poles. Three magnets 8 threaded on a brass rod 3 and separated by washers 9 are arranged so as to simulate a single magnet with consequent poles and are clamped between a disc 10 and a clamping nut 6 provided with a washer 7. The magnets 8 are arranged in a brass sleeve 11 secured between the disc 10 and a disc 4 clamped by a nut 5, the handle of the device being formed by a brass tube 1 secured between the disc 4 and a cap 2. The magnet assembly is slidable within a brass sheath 12 closed at one end and of the same length as the tube 11 and provided with a flange 13 having a finger ring 14.
