[Class 99 (ii)] A retractable blower tube 9 is positively but loosely connected at 28 to the operating screwed spindle 29, the tube assembly including a valve 13 and piston 15 which has a tongue and slot connection 23 with a nut 24 on the spindle. A stud 20 in the casing engages a longitudinal slot 16 in the piston during reciprocation of the tube and then engages a circular slot 17 to allow rotation in the advanced position. The circular slot may be replaced by a helical slot. The stud 20 is hollow to vent steam escaping past the piston rings.
