Abstract
561,427. Flexible couplings. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Aug. 20, 1942, No. 11709. Convention date, Sept. 20, 1941. [Class 80 (ii)] A flexible coupling having inner and outer coupled parts 5, 3, connected by spring members 9, such as leaf springs, each of which is held at one end in two places 10, 11, in one part 3 and is jointed at its other end 12 to the other part 5, has at least one of the supporting places for a spring member in one of the parts connected by a flexible bridge piece to the rigid portion of that coupling. As shown, the supporting places 10 are connected to the rigid part 3 by flexible bridge pieces 13. The springs 9 are carried in a casing 7 mounted by bearings 8 on the member 5 and they are supported laterally at the intermediate points 15 and at the inner ends at the points 16. In a modification, both supporting places 10, 11 are connected flexibly to the part 3.
