Abstract
561,416. Tanks. LYSAGHT, Ltd.; J., and PLUMLEY, E. W. Jan. 14, 1943, No. 714. [Class 69 (i)] [Also in Group II] Pickling tanks of the kind having a lining of acid-proof material, such as rubber or bitumen, covered on both sides with a layer of brickwork or cement or layers of both, are cooled by causing cooling fluid from any source of supply, such as a nearby tank, to pass around and extract heat from the lining. Water from a tank d is introduced from a pipe e into a passageway g extending the whole length of a tank a and flows outwardly as indicated by the arrows k into a passage p through grooves in the tiles h, Fig. 2, housed within the brickwork j, cooling the lining l, and then on to a passage r through similar grooves arranged vertically. The water after travelling round the tank a leaves by the pipe m and enters an inlet n leading to the passage g in a second tank b from which it leaves by outlets o passing into tank d.
