Abstract
560,335. Loud-speaker horns. FOUNTAIN, Ltd., G. R., WHEELER, G. C., and HOULGATE, H. J. Nov. 17, 1942, No. 16237. [Class 13] [Also in Group XXXIX] A multi-unit loud-speaker comprises a row of units 4 in the open front 1 of a box, an inner horn 5 for each unit, the mouths 10 of which combine into a long outlet at the back 3 of the box, and two lateral outer horns 12 extending from the mouths 10 along the back of the box and round along the sides 2 of the box to the open front 1 of the box which constitutes the combined mouth of the loud-speaker. The coupling between each unit 4 and its horn 5 may be as described in Specification 519,625, [Group XXXIX]. The inner horns 5 are formed by curved wooden blocks 6 fastened between flat plates 9, 9. The outer horns are bounded by the back and side walls of the box and by sheets 13, 13 bent round spacing pieces 14. The sheets 13 are extensions of the inner ends of the plates 9, and their ends are fastened to extensions 15, 15 of the front ends of the plates 9. Reflecting blocks 16, 17, 17 are fitted along the centre of the back of the box and along the back corners of the box. The front of the box is fitted with hinged lids 19, 19. The line transformer or transformers may be mounted between the plates 9 and sheets 13 as indicated at 20; and the terminals may be mounted on the sheets 13 as indicated at 21.
