Abstract

560,036. Gas purifiers. BLAKELEY, W., EDWARDS, E. M., and FIRTH BLAKELEY, SONS & CO., Ltd. Sept. 8, 1942, No. 12635. [Class 55 (ii)] The capacity of a purifier is increased by adding one or more tiers of side plates to the existing plates, any existing brackets being removed and fixed higher up to support the top plates which are moved up to cover the top tier of side plates. To prevent back pressure, new inlet hoods may be provided so that the gas is admitted at the centre and withdrawn at the top and bottom or vice versa. After removing the top plate C from the side plates B, additional side plates G are mounted on the existing side plates B the brackets D being transferred from the side plates B to the side plates G. A door K is provided in the upper plates. Tie bars may be fitted horizontally near the middle joint to prevent bulging.
