Abstract
559,915. Fluid-flow meters. STOKOE, C. L. July 6, 1942, Nos. 9322, 16175 and 16946. [Class 69 (i)] Relates to fluid-flow meters in which the action of the fluid against a pivoted flap, or an axially movable part, partially revolves a, spindle carrying an indicating pointer, and consists in the provision of lamps or coloured discs to indicate change in fluid-flow, means for adjusting the points at which such indications are given, and plates between which the indicating pointer is arranged, one or both plates being slotted to provide a path for the free end of the pointer, and the latter being laterally resilient. In Figs. 1 and 2, the meter body a contains a flap d carried by a spindle c pressed axially by a spring- loaded ball f, leakage along the spindle being prevented by a collar k and one or more resilient washers j. The spindle carries the resilient pointer v, w, and adjustable tappets p, q, which tappets act respectively through hinged electric contacts to light high or low-flow indicating lamps 1, 4, a normal flow indicating lamp 3 being then extinguished. In another form, the lamps 1, 3, 4, and contacts are replaced by coloured discs movable behind a preferably illuminated window. In both forms, the high-flow indicating means may be omitted.
