Abstract
558,596. Casting-machines. WALKER, W. S., and BRIDGE, J. F. July 8, 1942, No. 9522. [Class 83 (i)] Moulds.-In ingot-casting apparatus of the type in which a vertical slot 21 in the side of the mould 10 through which a relatively movable pouring spout 31 projects, is progressively closed as the mould is filled, the closing elements 22 conform to the shape of, and are inserted in the slot 21 to form a virtual continuation of, the mould wall. The mould is moved vertically by a screw 18 with wheels 14 in guides 15 and the closing elements are pivoted on a shaft 24, carried by the mould, and are moved from open to closed position by rollers 28 thereof engaging a fixed scroll cam 27 and finally closed by a spring- pressed roller 32.
