Abstract
558,033. Electric cable insulation. PIRELLIGENERAL CABLE WORKS, Ltd., and BEAN, R. March 6, 1942, No. 2934. [Class 36] Electric cables are insulated with at least a layer of synthetic resin beneath, or superposed on, but not penetrating, a layer of glass fibre which may be applied as braiding, taping, or lapping. Resins specified are polyvinyl chloride acrylic ester polymers, polystyrene, urea-formaldehyde, melamine and alkyd resins. The glass fibres may adhere to the synthetic resin ; and there may be a layer of glass fibres between two sheaths of the same or different synthetic resins.
