Abstract

557,388. Electric selective signalling. REDIFFUSION, Ltd., and CLIFTON; J. B. M. May 15, 1942, No. 6634. [Class 40 (i)] In an arrangement for the operation of one or both of a pair of relays 2, 12, which may control the condition of a radio transmitter, the relay 2 is shunted by a rectifier 11 so that it is energized by current in one direction in the line circuit while the relay 12 is associated with a bridge of rectifiers 7 .. 10 so that it is energized by current in either direction, and two switches 3, 4 (which may be combined in a single switch) are provided at the control point for connecting alternating current from a transformer 1 to the line circuit and for connecting in alternatively two oppositely-directed rectifiers 5, 6 or for reversing the connections of a single rectifier. The rectifier bridge may be in parallel with the relay 2 instead of in series as shown, and further relays with associated rectifiers may be provided. According to the Provisional Specification, the rectifier bridge 7 .. 10 may be dispensed with and the relay 12 may be slugged, for example, by a dashpot to prevent its release when the direction of current is reversed.
