[Class 106 (iv)] [Also in Groups XX and XXIV] In apparatus according to the parent Specification for converting motion according to one law into motion according to another law, and comprising a first element B movable, e.g., with the prism of a range-finder, along a rectilinear guide A, a lever E pivoted at C and slidably and pivotally engaging the element B, and a second element F slidably and pivotally engaging the lever E and movable along a second guide D, the movement of the element F causes the second guide to be displaced relatively to the first guide, so that the element F moves, e.g., in accordance with a uniform scale of a non-linear function of range. The guide D may be a rotatable threaded rod carried by slide blocks J; and the element F may be a nut carrying a pin P engaging a cam slot N fixed in the instrument base. The slot N may cause conversion into a uniform scale of logarithm of range.
