Abstract
555,195. Wave-guides. BRITISH INSULATED CABLES, Ltd., and QUAYLE, J. C. July 10, 1941, No. 8695. [Class 40 (v)] A wave-guide of rectangular cross section is made of flexible non-metallic material in two or more parts with longitudinal joints and having the interior surfaces metallized. The guide may be formed by one part shaped as a rectangular trough and be associated with a similar trough or with a flat strip. The Figure shows an arrangement in which a pair of shallow troughs with a flat bottom and waved ends joined at the edges are used. The material may be rubber either vulcanized or unvulcanized or Neoprene or rubber-polystyrene mixtures or co-polymers. Alternatively artificial resins may be used such as polyvinyl resins and the normally solid polymers of ethylene. Metallizing may be effected by painting or spraying, alternatively sputtering and evaporation in vacuo may be used.
